Do you have any book, website or class recommendations? I am not looking for long term, more like day trading.
Day trading

Day trading “well” will take most people on average, three years to accomplish. That’s after 95% of those that try…. fail.

Here are some suggestions (to start);
Read;
Mastering The Trade, John Carter
Trading In The Zone, Mark Douglas
Trade Your Way To Financial Freedom, Tharp
High Probability Trading, Link
There are plenty more books to read. The typical trader reads a book every month or two (I average every 6 weeks)… I re-read them also.

Every night I watch videos on the market;

Weekend (Sunday) video;

My broker has weekly “chats” that may be of interest;

In one word there’s only one way to be successful: Disipline

Here’s another web page that may be of interest;

Good luck….. it’s been a rough year! I’ve been a position trader for 30+ years. A swing trader for the past 1.5 years. I’m just getting into day trading (also)……………………….

In November there’s a TradersExpo in Vegas… if you can, it’s well worth the effort.

The site has 2 videos one for the product and one for the business. The company is FreedomRocks.com The product is a program that will help you trade in the forex market and show you how to hedge your trade and make daily interest on the money at better than market rates for banks and mutual funds. The business video talks about a MLM plan with the business. More interested in the product than the business. Would like to know peoples thoughts on the product or information you might have.

I tried the 15 day free trial and was making over 30% annual interest on my money. They showed how I could make more but also had to take bigger risk trading. I was able to swing some trades for positive return of 10% in 15 days trading conservatively with a demo account. I have only been in the forex market for a short time but found it very intriguing.

Thanks for your responses in advance.

FOREX is not a market you want to fool around in. Take a year or more to learn it and then try! FreedomRocks wouldn't have a MLM plan if they really had a 100% plan to make money in FOREX. Thed'y keep it to themselves and become billionaires……..
I was speaking to an old co-worker and he was telling me he traded currency at night after his day job ended. (That is when the foriegn makets are open) Would like to hear from people doing this currently and their opinon/advice on this. How much money do i need to start this, and possible websites to check out?….Thanks!

Philly,
Forex market or Foreign Currency Exchange market is one of the biggest trading market in the world with over USD 1.3 Trillion traded in a day. It is drawing attention ever since it is open to Online trading. Forex trading can be very profitable if you take your time to do a proper research, understanding various options and choose a system that works for you. The most used Forex trading system may not be the most suitable for your needs.

There are many different kinds of Forex Trading Systems and you need to know a few facts as mentioned below, before choosing and funding a system.

1. Testimonials: Is there anyone out there who is trying to sell a system and show you testimonials from the people who actually didn't like the system? Highly unlikely. You should do proper research before indulging into a system that is completely new to you.

2. Profit: Do you want to work with a Forex Trading system that breaks even? Why? If you keep the money in your home, you will still break even, then why take all the hassles of setting up an Forex Trading account and do all the work. Really speaking, you should always do some research on how profitable a particular trading system is?

3. Drawdown: The maximum drawdown of trading system is defined as the greatest peak-to-valley drawdown in a trading system’s equity. Maximum drawdown gives us a measure of the survivability of the trading system.

4. Time to profit: The actual time it takes to achieve the results with a particular trading system. You should plan to have a long and profitable relationship with your trading system.

Try to use a trading system that let you open a Demo account so that you can practice and learn about Forex Trading without risking any money.

I have tried many of these systems in my quest to simplify my trading experience. I personally have found FreedomRocks to be the system that has worked for me. I have found no bad information on this system from anybody that has actually used it. I have found many skeptics and bashers but nothing from those that have actually tried at least the free trial they offer.

Below are a couple of links I have found in my travels around the web:

Now as far as how much money you would need to gat started I have helped people get started with amounts ranging from $500 up to well over six figures. If you would like I could send you a spreadsheet of how to get started right with just $500 invested on a monthly bugeted basis. The spreadsheet will show you how that investment could easily grow to well over $240,000 within 60 months! Feel free to e-mail me and I will get that right over to you.

Daytrading is buying and selling stocks shortly after purchasing them.

It is very risky, and any gains are taxed at a higher tax rate, the short term capital gains rate.

It is supposed to work like this, buy a stock, wait for it to go up, and then sell within a month or so, reap the profit, and it is so much you don't care about the higher tax rates.

More often, it is buy a stock, panic when it drops, sell it and lose money.

80% of all daytraders lose money.

Be CAREFUL.

I day trade, and have found it fairly profitable, but recently have not seen many stocks that are fit for day trading. Do you have any suggestions. I am willing to make substantial investments.

Remember back in the 1990s when a lot of people either retired early or became wealthy? It was relatively simple. With stock prices going up, up, up, I knew a lot of people who simply invested part of their paychecks. They ended up with several hundred thousand dollars in profits from their constantly rising stocks.

I knew others who had already amassed several hundred thousand by the time the stock boom came along. They were millionaires by the time the 1990s ended.

Ah yes, those were the days. Today it's a lot harder. Stocks don't seem to do much any more. You have to invest in risky emerging countries to see much return. And that chance can evaporate overnight taking your money with it.

When the stock market won't bring you any return, most people turn to real estate. But housing prices have peaked in most cities, meaning you can't just buy a house and sit on it for several years to earn a fat nest egg.

So does that mean we have to give up on ever getting ahead and just learn to be satisfied living the average life our jobs can provide?

Not necessarily. These days you have to think differently to get ahead. For example, you've noticed how manufacturing and jobs are heading out of North America to foreign countries. That's bad news for many workers, but it's GREAT news for some segments of the Foreign Exchange Market.

You see, when we buy products from China, or Japan ships products to England, all kinds of currency has to change hands and be converted. There is BIG money in that process.

FOREX, the foreign exchange market, handles 2 TRILLION in transactions EVERY DAY. That's far more money than what Wall Street handles. Just about anybody can jump in and pull out quite a profit for themselves by participating in the FOREX process.

Does all this sound a bit new to you? Most North Americans have heard very little about FOREX. They've got BILLIONS of dollars sitting in savings accounts and low yield investments that could make them a LOT more money in the Foreign Exchange Industry.

Send me an e-mail and I will be happy to share my P/L spreadsheet with you from the last 500 days. I have gained anywhere from 12-35 % compounded monthly on average for the past 500 days using the FR system.

I'm giving you some web sites to check out for day traders and swing traders. This will give you a "feel".

Also, some good books to start with are;
Trading In the Zone, Mark Douglas
Mastering The Trade, John Carter
High Probability Trading, Link
Trade Your Way To Financial Freedom, Tharp

Learn the basics of "Technical Analysis" before you read these books. Understand Candlestick Charting, Moving Averages, Support & Resistance, RSI, Channels etc.

There are many great books out there…. Don't read any of them until you've gone through these. Don't ever underestimate the importance of money management, position sizing & trading psychology.

This will take at least a year to get through. Do it and you'll save yourself from many costly mistakes.
