Day trading

Be aware that 90% of day-traders lose money. The odds are way against you. I recommend trying swing-trading (a few days to a few months time frame) first. The pressure is less and the timing not so quick. The exact same principles that apply to swing trading will prepare you for trading on shorter time frames. Or … you might decide you were making enough money in swing trading to stick with it.

As for sources, check with your brokerage. Many of them make learning tools available to their clients.

Best of success.

Does anyone know what an average day trader tries to take home everyday(Net)? What are the implications of becoming a day trader as far as tax on earnings and brokerage accounts?
Day trading

You can aim for as much as you are willing to lose. I aim for 5 percent a week, theoretically, making it 1264% compounded annual return. If I score higher than 5 percent return that week, then I'll just take less risk the next week and seek lower return. If you have just started day trading, I would recommend going for no more than 1 percent a week. That might sound very little, but in just 12 weeks, you're already ahead of an average investor, and in 1 year you'll have 64% compounded return. The real goal in day trading isn't to make all the money in the world, instead try to create a steady stream of cash-flow. If $500/day is good enough for you, then that's what u aim for.
Real time quote, fast and reliable access, detailed chart. Basically anything that day-traders or swing-traders need.

P.S. I live in Canada

There's a special address for Canadians, https://www.thinkorswimcanada.com/.

Simply the best for swing trading stocks and options. There's even an audio program all day (9:15-11:30AM & 1:30-4:00PM, EST) . The program also answers questions on specific technical questions (on specific stocks) & there's a video/chart which you can see the "ShadowTrader" actually show what he's referring to.

The platform is great (really great!!!). Charts are great (both TOS and Profet). Service is great.

They have many conditional order types including;
Blast 6
One Cancells Other (great for putting in a stop and limit price at the same time).
1st Triggers next
Chose by time & date execution.
Market Close
and many more

There graphs art great. Service is great. You'll be amazed. This platform was rated #1 by Barron's in their March 2007 best online broker article ((for software based brokers).
They were an incredible hit in Las vegas at the TradersExpo this past November. More people were checking them out more than any other broker.

I've been with them since April 2007.
(I have used Schwab (active trader program), Ameritrade, Scottrade and Fidelity).

The only thing they lack is "BackTesting" and that's coming out in this month.

Other ideas for good platforms;
TradeStation (good charting, backtesting + much more)
Iinteractive Brokers (fair charting, over 40 order types).

Hi fellow traders,

3. Can I buy and sell the Shares on the same day?

4. Can I claim exemption under Income Tax Act if I incur loss?

5. Is there any restrictions in the number of Transactions per day?

6. Besides Brokerage charges, is there any other charges that needs to be paid?

7. Do I've to enclose a KYC Compliance or MAPIN ID , if my investment exceeds above 50,000/- INR.

8. Can I buy and sell the shares on Hourly basis, if the share value depreciates or appreciates?

9. As I already mentioned that I'm a Graduate student, will I be liable to pay tax irrespective of Gain/Loss?

10. Is there any Study material available in maket to brush up the trading knowledge?

If you want a quick return on your money then trading in cfd,s is the way to go.
You dont actually buy shares as such but buy a contract on the assets.
You then earn or lose money on the opening and closing price of the asset.
Many people have got rich very quick from cfd's but there is also the risk of losing money quickly.
Finding a broker will help as they can advice you on stops that sell when the
asset falls below a certain amount you can afford to lose.
you can find more information at

What can the daytrade company do to collect this debt? Does the credit card company have any claim to his account?
Day trading

The brokerage wouldn't have to do anything. You have to deposit the money into the brokerage account and have cleared funds before you can trade. You would have to use a cash advance or a credit card check to get money to deposit into your brokerage account.

So your estate would owe the credit card company, just the same as if you had run up your credit cards on anything else. The executor of your estate would have to sell something to cover the debts, and the stocks would be a likely a candidate. So really, in the event of your death, the credit card company doesn't have a specific claim on the stocks, but a general claim against all of your assets, before they are disbursed to your heirs.

I understand it is defined as 4 or more round trips in a 5-day period. I assume these 4 sets of transactions would need to be with a single brokerage. So if you have, say, an etrade and an ameritrade account, you could make 3 round trips in each and not be penalized for pattern day trading. Am I right?
Day trading

Yes technically. I believe these tracks are only per brokerage.
If I'm a non-us citizen (trading from a non-us location) and I want to day trade non-us markets, and I've opened a US brokerage account. Would I still be subjected to SEC daytrade regulations of a minumum account balance of $25K and be classified a day trader if I trade 4 or more trades over a 5 day period?
Day trading

SEC rules apply to broker/dealers, if you trade using a US Broker/dealer you are subject to the SEC rules and regulations.

All customers using US Broker/dealers would have to follow the rules that dictate policy & procedures to that broker/dealer.

If you going to play in the US, directly or indirectly, you have to play by the rules

Like sometimes i buy shares n sell the same day for 1-2% profit, should i buy immediately or waiting is better? what are the other things i can do in intra-day? to make money?
i pump 1 lakh rupees
and even if i make 1% profit (after adding brokerage&taxes) i make 1 thousand rupees!
Day trading

I dont know if you will make money or not. But the broker with whom you trade will certainly make more money by your intraday activity.

Till date there are not a single day trader who has consistently made money, without risking his sampatti.

My sincere advice would be to find a few really good stock and invest for mid to long term.

In case you are in a hurry. then I am afraid, there are no shortcuts.

I've noticed that very often the Asian Market follows the US market's previous day's results, am watching to see how often this happens. What a trading advantage it would be to be able to predict with fair accuracy what will happen in Asia and be able to trade accordingly. Any ideas?

<<<Is there any way to trade the Hang Seng index on the US market?>>>

You can trade futures on the Hang Seng index from a number of brokerages, including Interactive Brokers. (You cannot trade an index directly. You have to use some tool such as a futures contract or an ETF.)

<<<I've noticed that very often the Asian Market follows the US market's previous day's results, am watching to see how often this happens. What a trading advantage it would be to be able to predict with fair accuracy what will happen in Asia and be able to trade accordingly. Any ideas?>>>

I am not sure how you expect to use US market results to improve your trading results. Every other trader in the world has the same information readily available, so any impact will be factored into the price at least as quickly as you can submit a trade order.
