Will i be able to buy Visa stock through E*Trade the day it goes public? Will there be shares available if I place an order at 9:30am, or would they have already been spoken for by brokers and with an inside advantage?
Usually, institutional investors and private wealth will have bought most of the issue. They may try to flip it out early on the market at a profit to you, but many IPOs have protective convenants preventing buyers from immediately selling out. In short, you might be able to buy into Visa's IPO, but it'll come at a price.
